Review: Redchurch Townhouse

Redchurch Townhouse review

Redchurch Townhouse review - in a sentence:

A ridiculously stylish, and surprisingly affordable, mid-century bolthole in one of the best areas of London.

Design: 5/5

As you would expect from any Soho House property, interiors are incredibly well thought-through and executed. The aesthetic is less of the usual rustic, vintage reclaimed style you see from the group and more mid-century/Seventies-modern, with lots of velvet sofas, walnut wood and retro lighting – I absolutely loved it.

I stayed in a 'Small' room which (despite the name!) was incredibly spacious, especially for a central London hotel. You can expect all of the usual lovely in-room touches: fleecy robes; full size Cowshed products; generous amenity kits; a fully stocked bar for cocktail making. Soho House beds & linens are always fantastic, but THIS bed was truly incredible – so squishy!

Food & drink: 3/5

Redchurch Townhouse review

I only had breakfast, which I ordered to my room, and while it was delish I will gladly admit I was very hungover and would have eaten just about anything! As with all Soho House properties, the food is reliably good and the portions generous.

Location: 5/5

Redchurch Street is one of theeee coolest spots in London, right now, and the hotel is perfectly placed for literally some of the best restaurant offerings in London.

If you don't fancy a room-service breakfast, ultra-chic bakery Jolene is (literally) a stone's throw from the hotel, as well as Dishoom (get the sausage naan, and thank me later!). For a proper meal, the excellent one Michelin star Brat is a few doors down and one of my all-time favourite pasta restaurants, Manteca, is round the corner. For something a bit stronger, I highly recommend Nightjar and Boundary for cocktails. Redchurch Street also houses some of the best brands for shopping, such as Aesop, Reformation and APC.

To-do: 2/5

This is more of a London crash-pad than a destination hotel. But there is Cecconi's downstairs and, well, the rest of London on your doorstep!

Reasons to book:

  • Suuuuper affordable for a London hotel

  • Cracking location

  • Beautiful design

Any negatives?

  • The only real downside for me is the lack of facilities / amenities

The final word:

At the date of writing, I have stayed at three Soho House properties - Redchurch Townhouse, Babington House, and Soho Farmhouse - and I honestly think this might be my fave. There is just something so sleek yet also very cosy about the design which really speaks to me, and in my fantasy London life, I 10000% live on Redchurch St… I loved my stay here and now recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable but design-led stay in London.
